If you're waiting for spring to start fishing you are missing some of the years best fishing for big fish.

For the last two weeks I've been making good catches of fish (12"-15") on three different area lakes. Not huge numbers (15-25 per trip) but really big fat fish. Only one throw back fish in last three trips.

Most fish have been on bridges in 18'-25' deep water. Use your electronics to locate brush near the columns.

This is one of the times of year that sitting in one spot a little longer will pay off. Once you locate a good spot and catch a few fish don't be in too big of a hurry to move. Try different colors and even (Can't believe I'm saying this) add nibbles to get a few extra bites. HOLD YOUR JIG STILL NEAR THE BOTTOM.

I agree 100 %. I am catching mine in 28-30 feet.
We Have caught 441 crappie in feb. The quality of
the fish has been amazing. Almost no throwbacks
and very few small ones. Normally I am excited for
the spawn to get here.... not this year!!
