I would think its gonna take a 130-160 to win the long rod contest. Maybe a touch more. A measured throw on ground is gonna be a bit less than most people's guesstimated throws into open water.

Short rod class oughta be 8' and less- I don't have any 7 footers- just 8's , 10's and 12's. and most guys 7' rods are really 7'6"-7'8" - like ProAngler.

What about using McInnish Park at the Carrollton/Coppell border off Sandy Lake Rd. Where the boat ramp goes into the river there is plenty of parking and a HUGE field behind it that would have plenty of space.
