It is used for un-attended lines along the banks of rivers or lakes much like a jug line except you don't have to chase them down. Very effective for big cats when they come into the shallows at night to feed.
I believe you guys call the them Limb Lines. The whole idea is to have a re-usable rig with easy line management by wrapping line around eye hooks and storing for latter use.

Read an In-Fisherman article on rigging up a brush clip from your rod to hang a bluegill a few inches under the water for flatheads in rivers. Gonna give it a shot this summer.

Love those things when you duck hunting. Nothing makes for a good morning of teal hunting like a big a$$ hook in the leg. On the plus side I do like your bright colors.

First of all in SC they have to be taken down at sunrise.
Second of all they have to have a name tag on them. So if you got hooked you shuda gotten the name and complained.
Third they are legal.
Fourth, I guess you never ran up on a jug line in the dark drifting free in the water on your way to your blind and fouled your prop
So I guess I really don't see your point in attacking a legal method of catfishing.
PS When I duck hunt, I have already created a duck blind during the day when you can see.
Just saying Tight lines
