Went recently to a lake and saw the lake record for Blue Cats was 64 pounds. That weekend we caught a 67, 71, and 78 pound Blue Cat when your not from that area how do you know where to get the fish weighed or how do you get the fish certified as a possible lake record. The Lake was Belton.

you would just have to call the local baitshops or marinas to see if they have a certified scale. easiest way is to take the pics and measurements for the catch and release record. no scales required for that.

TPWD has a list of certified scales throughout Texas. Or do like a lot of us have, buy a scale, get it certified, and then you can do it yourself no matter what body of water you are on.

Im pretty sure belton feed has certified scales to weigh your record. However transporting a fish that big and releasing it alive would be a pretty big challenge. Next time try getting length, girth measurments, pictures, and submitting a catch and release record.

WOW, That is awesome. I knew that Belton had some big flatheads but blues that size are almost unheard of. Hope they were released for someone else to have that thrill as well. Need pics

No fish is too good for the grease.

What particular scale did you buy that you were able to get certified? Buy a digital scale and send it off to get certified

The scales you find at most bait shops do not have enough capacity to weigh a fish that size.

Here is the one I have: http://www.ebay.com/itm/LCD-40kg-Digital...=item415ab9b34cIt is also the scale used by the STCA tournament series and has held up to tournament weigh-ins. We get them certified by mailing them to Bastrop Scale Inc. For us in San Antonio, it coust about $40 to mail it there, get certified, and mailed back.

Very nice catches. All 3 would have beat the lake record. Unfortunately their genetic string will not produce any this year to help populate Belton. Heard they met the knife.
