7ft Wright@McGill s glass crankin rod. You really want a fiberglass rod for traps, softer tip won't allow the fish to load up your rod and throw the bait.

I use a Duckett 7.3 MH....and I love it. Another rod I have used and wouldn't hesitate to use again is the Falcon Cara AOY.

well depends on the kinda trappin' we are talking here . . . if your rayburn trapping heavy hydrilla, your going to want a heavy action rod 7-76, otherwise your gonna be hating fishing . . lol
now open water fishing, more of a medium heavy 7ft

Depends on the cover i'm fishing and size trap i'm throwing. My go to rod for most trap situations with a 1/2-5/8 oz bait is a 6'10 Medium heavy falcon cara finesse jig rod. It's got a solid back bone to rip a trap out of heavy grass but a soft enough tip to keep them pinned. For 3/4 ounce baits I like the Mike McClelland heavy cover special. It's a 7'4 rod with a heavy action but soft tip. I like the length for bigger baits in deeper water and thick grass, but will also throw the 1/2 and 5/8 ounce baits on it in really thick grass. 16 or 20 pound sunline sniper is my preference of line on a 7:1 reel. Alot of people are afraid to throw these baits on heavy action rods because they think it will tear the hooks out of their mouths, but if you upgrade the size of your hooks and back off on your drag a hair, you'll be fine. I've played around alot with my trap set ups on grass lakes out here the last 3 years and this is what works best for me. Hope this helps!

Temple Fork 7'3" MH. Lots of backbone with a tip that allows some give to keep the trap hooked. It's also long enough to send your trap to Viet Nam.
