I've got a Cabela's 12v feeder battery. It works great. It'll last two trips if I leave my brightness setting on high on my graph.

You can get them at surplus electronics stores like Tanner Electronics at 1100 Valwood Pkwy Carrollton. For anywhere between $8 and $20 depending on size.
I've also salvaged some from old house alarm systems and converter boxes used by Time Warner, Verizon, etc. They usually leave those behind and there is a backup battery inside.

That seems clever but how long does it last? I wouldn't think it'd have much battery life...

Adrian pointed this to me before I thought about getting the deer feeder battery. Stealth Cam Battery It is bout $40 but it comes in an enclose waterproof box and charger. The deer feeder battery cost about $20 and after factoring a box and charger you would spent more than $40. Lee I went with this. Thanks Lee. See you Saturday.

How long will it push a 360GPH Rule? Mine does for 8 HRS! weighs in at a mere 13 LBS! $80 bucks. Its a Werker wheelchair battery.Deep cycle.Overnight charge or if setting leave trickle charger on it!I dont think you can beat it. Now if I could just modify the tank on my kayak Im almost there! Its a little more tricky than I first thought.Profile catches wind, water sloshes to one side or the other.Modifications made and 2nd attempt comming soon.
Keep em tight!

How do you guys that do a thru-hull transducer install keep your battery from bouncing around and knocking it loose? I got the battery/box/charger combo that awdieeeee suggested. It's not a waterproof bag, which I feel like would have a little traction and not slide so easily, but it's a metal box. I feel like it's gonna slide around with every paddlestroke. Any suggestions? Maybe like some adhesive velcro to keep it secured?
