It sounds like I should have registered one for the lake record. We caught both of them within 20 yards of each other first thing that morning. Fished the rest of the day catching fish that none of which even remotely looked like a spotted bass.

I've been fishing it since before the plant was operating and have never seen a spot.

There is no lake record spot.So you let the prettiest lake records swim away twice.

Ok guys got the answer I was looking for. The length limit. I wonder why they have a limit for a fish that apperently isn't in the lake. Humm. Beats the heck out of me. I have also fished Ray bob my whole life and never caught a smally out of there. But they are in there. I guess anybody who tells me they have caught one I should just laugh and call em a liar. You guys around here sure have good hospitality.

That's alright. I don't mind lettin them swim away to be caught again another day. Maybe you will catch it and realize how big of a a$$ you are. You sound like one of them guys that knows everything but can't seem to put it all together on the water to be successful. You folks have a nice day and hopefully i will catch another lake record spot this weekend at squaw in media. Maybe I might register it this time.

Many of the small, stout and fat blacks at Squaw sorta look like spots. Their jawline is close to a spots. Post pics after you catch 'em on Saturday!! It'll show everyone you were right or they were.

Send it!

lol ok bro whatever makes you feel better. By the way just called Texas parks and wildlife... No length limit a bag limit of 5 and the woman I spoke to also said John Tibbs the biologist who manages the lake and was there during the recent shocking found zero spots... You're right I can't put it together on the lake although I've caught fish every trip. We just wanted to see some pics man calm down.

This isn't directed to anybody. Just a comment in general. Did they stock drum in squaw? Because it is one of the best drum fisheries I have seen.

I got a sturgeon out there! haha... just playing I imagine there are spots in the lake. I live in a neighbor hood that has 5 ponds in it. There are black crappie in one and white in the 2 of the others. The ponds are professionally stocked and managed. Last time they checked population, they were puzzled to see crappie. They have never stocked crappie before. Either someone is catching out of lakes and bringing them to the ponds or birds. It could be the same thing on squaw. Never know people might be bringing them in or birds.

Ok did a little research on lake ray Roberts because we can all agree there are definately spotted bass in that lake. They where never stocked nore where small mouth. So how did they get in there. So what y'all are saying is that if it wasn't stocked then its not in the lake. What about all the species of fish that are in squaw that where not stocked. What about drum, carp, gar, perch and other sunfish that where not stocked. How did they get there? I could be wrong about this but I thought that they pumped water from lake granbury into squaw? If so then it would make sense to me that any species that is in granbury could be in squaw.

If you really know what a spot looks like, they can be pretty distict, especially if they have really good color.

Now, I've seen pale spots, that were hard to tell by coloration, and really pretty LMB that some thought were spots.

The number one way to tell, bar none all the other sillyness like tooth patches etc is the jaw line.

Close the mouth and look at where the back edge of the jaw lands compared to a LMB, there is a BIG difference.

I love catching spots, hope you can get the lake record!..

Many moons ago, my dad and I got onto a huge school of Big spots in a lake that "didn't have spots in it".

We were called cheaters, protested , cussed at and everything else at the tourney weigh in.

he got polygraphed, passed and we got our check. We weighed in spots tourney after tourney for almost a year, winning alot with them, and then they disappeared. I haven't caught one on that lake in over 15 years, but I know they've got to be in there somewhere still.

lake record is 1.5lbs, wish i could find another school of pig spots like that again.!!
