My buddy is a Game Warden down there and his wife worked for the water commission for a while. Said the gates were shut on saturday so the lake level should stabilize a little bit. Iam fishing a tourney down there with him in April so I hope it is good.

The grass absolutely loves this level. It will take off like a rocket now that the water has stabilized. If nothing changes the grass will be 20 ft. deep by September and the heavy dropshot bite will be on.

We flew out of Del Rio about 2 this afternoon and flew over the dam and water was still pouring out of it.

The water dropping sure has changed the area that I was fishing a lot, where I caught the 10 pounder just a few weeks ago is high and dry. Most of the grass was gone with the exception of a few stalks, I agree it will take off once the water slows for a little bit and heats up a tad more. Its not problem catching a limit of fish but finding the quailty bite is what has been difficult for me the last few weeks, Gives me a good reason now to go to some other areas I have wanted to go and fish and hopeffuly find a few big fish for March.

Hopefully it turns out to be a positive for all, With the additional water that Falcon received lets hope that it was a positive impact for the spawn, Looking at the water results today, Amistad went from 50.68 yesterday to 50.70 today which is awesome for sure, if they allow it to stay stable some the Bass should really show themselves in the next few weeks. Now we can Hope that we are blessed with some rain and keep things stable at least or enough to add some water to both lakes. We will see I guess.

Yeah, it is definitly good news, this flow stop is the treaty stop for the spawn I mentioned in another post. Fishing definitly is picking up as the water stabalizes, saw alot of 63 this afternoon in a couple of the creeks and flats. my clients and I are having a blast with the stained and murky water, it is definitly a rare treat for a hometown boy. none of the fish we caught today had any wear on the tails, but it definitly would not suprise me if they start sweeping this week.

Don, I agree with you I am excited about the grass that will grow at this level. even if it goes to 60 in may.

coyotebass, don't want it to fill up just yet, need time for the land to replinish itself before we flood it again, it will be that much better when it does.

Just a reminder, just cause the water washed down does not mean the fish did. If you take half the water out of the bath tub, it is easier to find the toys. smile

TR21X HP, the flow you saw today is normal release, they always release what the flow comming in is from the springs and 2 rivers, this way they can maintain close to the current level.

lol, give me a call, I'm always ready lets go. the great thing this year is while the wind is anoying while fishing, at least this year the spring winds wont beat you to death running, now all the islands that are out of the water help break up the big rollers from the north winds.
