Just an FYI on a new regulation that I didn't learn until today while browsing the Bank Fishing section. Wouldn't want anyone to get in trouble! This is from TPWD website:
Effective September 1, 2012
For persons fishing from a dock, pier, jetty or other man-made structure in a state park, the only allowable fishing method is pole and line. On these structures, a person may use no more than two poles at once.
PB Buff - 56lbs PB Common - 26lbs PB Mirror - 7lbs PB Grasser - 45lbs PB Koi - 10lbs

Purtis Creek State Park was one of the places they brought that on for.

Calaveras Lake in San Antonio is not part of the State Park System, but does provide some insight on why the new rules came about. They have one fishing pier/dock and it is amazing to see a nimrod with a casting net walk in among the rod and reel anglers and start throwing without any regard to those who are enjoying their time at a lake. No class and no regard as to whether the throwing the cast net spooks the fish and whether things will settle down after the damage is done.
Enforcement is debatable. I believe the wardens have bigger issues to deal with.

good to know. two rods are easier to handle anyway. less chance of a tangle.
