I use sureshot on Lewisville. When they are spawning on the rocks, I normally limit out 25 in an hour or so. Last year I counted almost 300 catfish caught with 3/4 of a gallon of sureshot. Minnows would get very expensive. I have used secret 7 with decent results, just like sureshot better.

Mr.Whiskers catches reguraly 25- 100 fish DAILY on Squaw Creek, Ray Roberts, and Tawakoni. I have tried sure shot and last sunday fished with some gents using shure shot and I using Mr.Whiskers. The were not catching and had a kid with them so i hollered over and told them to move to where i was and tie up. I throwed some chum out for them and they started catching fish. I think Chum is almost more important than the punch bait you use. They were fishing within 20yds of me before and then tied right up with me. I lft them with the fish biting and gave them one more big shot of chum. Was the kids first time and he was having a blast. Had some real good fried fish last night for supper.

I'm thinking almost ANYTHING when the channels are in the rocks! I've had my best luck with Murphy's Catfish bait. I can't be convinced that the really stinky stuff is that much better. Fresh caught shad is always good. For some really great times, I've used fresh shrimp from Kroger/Walmart, its cheaper than the stinky bait shrimp from the bait house...maybe the 30-50 size, small, on a bare hook with no weight and a fly rod around the rocks. WOW!! that is really fun!
Everything works good when the spawn is on...EVERYTHING! if you cast it..they will come!

When the channel catfish are spawning the bait is not a critical element as there are a TON of baits the will work.
More important is being in the right place and having the right presentation.

There seems to be a lot of good punch baits out there and some favorite punch baits. Has anybody ever used the Jandell punch bait I have ordered some of there fish oil but never there punch bait?

When they are spawning I open a bottle of wine, play some Barry, tell them their pretty. Skins just fall off.
if that doesn't work, fresh shad.
