anyone finding any crappie up shallow yet? I've been seeing several pop the water while bass fishing but have tried catching them yet. The lake being full on Palestine should make for some good times over the next month.

I have never fished Palestine. Are there many docks on the lake?

About 10,000 or so, but as Pepop will tell you finding the docks that hold fish is the trick.

There are more docks than you can fish... but you can also go north on the lake. You will find them up in the flooded grass or willows up there a week or two before they get on the banks on the south end.

I can't decide whether to go work on the deer lease or go fishing. I was hoping someone was going to say they were catching them on the banks and make my mind up for me.

I started catching nice crappie on Super Bowl Sunday in water from 5' to about 9'. They were good for about a week, then the fronts and colder weather came and shut them down a bit. However it should not be long before they pick back up bitting. I know they are still there or close, but they have already been shallow and have seen one other guy doing his casting to the bank thing and he was doing well too before the weather changed.

We have been catching them in really shallow coves.

We're catching them suspended at 5-8ft deep right now but in deeper water.
