if you use that ramp on the nolan, please be careful.... that place has a history and banjo music is being played.

Went to Horseshoe Bend instead have the Nolan after the low water and flow reports. Adequate water but nothing biting. Still a little too early despite the warm weather. I figured as much when we showed up and there were no other cars. Good luck everybody.

naw it did not, always been folkss there but not like the last few years. it used to be locals and a few out of town folks that were smart enough to look at a map. a guy that looked at a mapp and risked a 2 hour drive to check a stream for fish is a guy that earned a fish. 70 car loads of city folk that all likes it on face book, make me yearn for the days when cars were broken in to and burnt. Makes me yearn for the days before computers.

Went out on Monday with the jon boat. Camped over night at Chisolm Trail (Brazos). Had one fish on near Kimble Bend. It broke me off. Im sure it was a cat as i was fishing with old shad. Spent the next day on the Nolan. Put in at Nolan River Park and went as far up river as possible and then walked another half mile. Never found any sandies. I think this week will be the start of their run since the weather should be(hopefully) warming up. When the trees start budding, and water temps are above 50, they usually begin their run in full swing.

FYI the Nolan has been no secret for as long as I, and my fishing mentors can remember. Especially the bridge at rock creek. Ive been fishing around the area since I was old enough to tie on a road runner. The key is to spend time out there and do your scouting to find the fish. Me and my buds do it every year. Some years it takes a few days to find the fish. Some years it takes a few minutes. The Texas Fishing Forum has just made it a little easier.

Fished Monday afternoon for just over a hour. Caught a nice LM and my wife caught a nice Sand Bass. Passed a group walking out with a nice stringer. There in the river, I just think the water is to cold to get them running.
