Hi im moving to the corpus area in the near future and am looking at my reel/rod options for some shark fishing. Im gonna be kinda limited on budget for 2 rods and reels to start with considering im gonna be buying all my terminal tackle and a 1000$ kayak for bait deployment. Anyone have any good suggestions on a reasonably priced reel thats gonna do the job and hold 800+ yards of line

Get a Senator 9/0 and 12/0. Penn Senator 9/0 rods or if you want to upgrade look at AVET 2 speed 50

Lot of Shark fisherman also like the Daiwa 900h Great reel, and with a few mods, an even better reel. It already has aluminum frame and sideplates and if you check with alantani.com, you can upgrade the drag considerably fairly cheaply

Cool thx ill look athte daiwa. Eventually(probably next tax return) I want 2x avet T-RX 50W with 130 class rods. Those are my "dream" reels LoL but at 800ish each just not a option now. Im honestly looking for 2 rod/reels in the 300 dollor range for both for now and ill probably spend another 250 and get a 3000yd spool of powerpro so I have plenty of line loaded up on them

Great recomendation on the sealine 900h and alantaini upgrades. The reels seems to be quality enough to get the job done and brand new ive already found them for 159 per so im sure I can find them used within my price range. And if I do ill just do the reel rebuild with the upgraded drag system! Ive been looking at the 9/0 penn senator 115L2. Witch seems new is around 159 to so with those 2 options maybe ill be able to find a good used set with poles for 300$. Again one day ill have a set of 130# class roller rods with avet T-RX 50W reels:) just not yet

Penn 115L2 - Plastic side plates, graphite frame, 23.5 lbs drag. made in China
Sealine 900H - Aluminum frame and sideplates, claims 33 lbs drag, made in Japan
I think you will find that the 900H is all round a better reel, needing fewer modifications to make it bullet proof

If looking at the Penn reels, look for an older one MADE IN THE U.S. (CRAIGSLIST, E BAY ECT.ECT.) the new ones from China seam to have quite a few problems. Pockets

Thx ill focus on the sealine 900 h then i think since there is no price difference from the 9/0 penn 115L2. Honestly at 150 per reel ill probably just end up with 2 new ones. Unless I can find a GOOD used set of poles/reels on craiglist im definatly keeping my eye out.
