Took a short trip out to Hubbard with my Brother and his son. Was only out from 3-5 pm. Ran into Filet maker (said Hi), fished around them for a few minutes and caught about 10 yellow bass. Moved out to the deeper water 38 feet, birds were working in several different locations.
Jigging with slabs, and dead sticking flukes. All fish were caught on slabs. They did not seem to want the flukes. We caught 25 14+ white bass. And three big ole fat Hybrid's which were all CPR-d. We did not chase the birds, just stayed around that area and fished deep. Notice other boats chasing the birds around and catching smaller whites with an occasional hybrid.

Steve good seeing you out. I bet we didnt catch 3 yellows the whole time we were out. We cleaned up on the big sandbass were you saw me and then moved north and caught a bunch there. We started about 2.30 and stopped about 5.30pm and I asked the wife how many we caught she said she thought it was close to 70 I think more like 50 or 60.

I believe Rockwall Roy and I met you all when you were next to Pat. What a great day on the lake! We stayed past sunset. Was one of those days you didn't want to end. Nice meeting you. We did the same. Lots of magnum dandies and couple hybrids. Looks like the ocean out there today. What a difference a day makes. BTW enjoyed watching your nephew catch that nice sandie. I love seeing kids get excited about fishing. That's the best gift we can ever pass down to them...

Thats a nice hybrid, Steve! Yeah, the hybrid numbers on Hubbard are no where near as good as other lakes. We created RHSA to improve our hybrid catching in the near future. I only use flukes to deadstick on twok but on hubbard its too slow for that. I mainly use slabs for faster and fun catching instead and place the fluke on rod holder in front of me with 3-6 cranks off the bottom depending on the depth.

Yes my nephew was excited about reeling her in. He said he about peed his pants when the rod was bent in the water.

Try to make it out to the tourney this summer and that will help with that. It's a good time.

Nice report!

My plan is to attend the tourney, and the breakfast. I attended the breakfast last year and it was a blast. Thanks.
