I have a shimano curado G7 paired with a shimano clarus 6'10 medium heavy fast action spinnerbait specific rod. I throw 1/4-1/2 oz spinnerbaits and cant seem to get any distance out of this reel. No matter how much i mess with the centrifugal brakes or spool tension it seems like i can only go 25 yards at most....Ive had it for 2 weeks. Im not new to baitcasters, its just it seems like there might be some advice i could get from some other fisherman....thanks in advance!

Go to HPReelBearings.com and order a set of ABEC 7 bearings for it if that dont work chunk it and get a Lews and problem solved. I was Shimano man and still have all my E7 Curados but will not buy these junk G series Lews all the way for me now they out cast my E7's and all my Curados have upgraded bearings and my Lews are all stock.

No need to order bearings. My guess is just get the factory grease out of the bearings. Sometimes the bearing manufacturer will get the lubes wrong on the orders and they pack them with grease.
Just take the two bearings out and soak them in some lighter fluid and let dry or blow dry with compressed air. Give them a spin or so with the lighter fluid in them, dunk them again then dry. Relube with one or two drops of good reel oil.
No reason to have that low a performance on that reel. I have several of the G's and they generally perform flawless. Lews? Okay, they cast good out of the box but will not last and perform as long as the Shimano reels. (I see the innards of about 1500 reels a year so you make the call). The G series is virtually the same reel that we all relied on with the old Curado B reels that everyone still hunts used.
Now sometimes we get a little over board on rod action versus weight and the intention of the Rod. You still need a softer tip on rods to handle Spinnerbaits, Jerkbaits and Crankbaits to get the best, most accurate cast from them. A broom stick will not cast properly with any reel.

Lews is not the way to go IMO. Seems like a flavor of the month reel to me. I did a little research on their reels and found out they are made by Pure fishing in China/Korea...
I'd stick with a proven performer, Shimano. Did some more research on tackletour on the G series Curados. The G series yes is a far cry from the E series, but that's the nature of the business. Changes are necessary for their bottom line. The G series is still a good reel and a solid performer regardless.
