I have a 2001 Chevy 2500 with 125,000 miles on it. I haven't used it for about a month. Today I tried to start it and it won't hit a lick.

When I put the key in all the lights on the inside and outside come on. When I turn the key nothing happens, not even a click or a buzz. I don't have any idea where to begin as I am highly mechanically challenged and the truck is 16 miles from the nearest mechanic.

Screw with the key fob. Try closing all the doors, then hitting unlock. Sounds like a security thing to me.

A half dead battery can have enough juice for lights and buzzers but not enough to crank the starter.

Nope. It is pulled into a very narrow hall way in a barn. I'll have to pull it out to do anything.

I don't have electricity available so I bought a new battery today and will install it tomorrow.

The issue was the battery. I would never have guessed that because the was not even a click when I turned on the key.

Thanks for the responsed. This is a great site.

Battery is dead.
