I got tired of the battery problem with the wind and installed a Stay 'N' Charge system and never looked back.
Cheers,
George

George I have read about that system. It works that well? Thanks for a reply.

For what it is worth, Zapata forecasts seem to be about the most inaccurate I have ever seen. Just keep that in mind. On another note, I am sure this goes without saying, but on a lake that size, please be careful when the wind gets up. It can come up in a heartbeat and if you are in the wrong place, it can get very, VERY ugly in a hurry. I got caught last year when a thunderstorm blew up down at the Blanco creek. We just were not expecting it to come up that quickly. It went from dead calm to legit 8 footers in a matter of a few minutes. We got beat to heck with hail and neeedless to say, I literally was praying on our run back to the County Ramp. Luckily I had a very skilled guide driving the boat. I can honestly say that I was not sure we were going to make it back. Hail, 35-40 mph sustained wind, and 8+' waves are not cool. If you have ever been in it, you know exactly what I am referring to.....

You can not believe the weather man in most city's is the saying. But here in Zapata the weather man is most always wrong when predicting the wind four sure. I use wind apps, Internet sites and the local news and always count on towards a 10 mph fluctuation. Most always meaning more wind than predicted. When u are on this lake in 20 mph wind you are asking for a beating of your person and equipment. Anything over 25 is flat out dangerous. A true 12 mph is the cats meow. Lol Perfect

It'll start rolling pretty good at 18-20. Just take your time around the lake.

Add the high wind and low wind together. That usually gets close to the actual.
