Checking the weather for my trip this weekend. Says 12 mph. Hope we'll be ok. What is considered too windy on Falcon?

All but one I the best days I have had on falcon had been 35 mpg sustained wave spearing wind. 12 mph there is a walk in the park. Last April we killed three sets of batteries every day take lunch swap and charge mid day snack swap and charge but we wore them out.

Depends where you are at what direction the wind is out of. 10-15 out the north can make it hairy down south... Pay attention and fish strengths including adding wind and area to your advantage. Have a game plan is my 2cents

Just double what the weatherman says. That's what it will be.

12mph is actually not that bad, I will also be at fishing there this weekend and prefer less wind but oh well...

I did however went one time when it was supposed to be 7mph from the north but boy it felt like I was in the middle of the lake during a storm, huge waves and strong winds, I was not able to go back out through the state park ramp due to waves being extremely high and were going over the boat. I headed southbound and asked for permission to use the government's boat ramp! It was ugly, just make sure you know where your headed towards and if the wind direction will affect you! 12mph isn't that bad but can change in a heartbeat!

Went in July. I swear the wind never dropped below 20 mph the whole time we were there. I would not ever fish in 25+ there. And we went through batteries like crazy as well. Anytime you go to Falcon have a back up pair of batteries and two chargers (so you can charge dead ones while fishing). We messed up and didnt know so we werent prepared. We had to load up and fly to O'Reillys to buy more, install and headed back out because the fish never quit biting there! Have fun

I would love to fish falcon in 12mph! Hope they right. Wind can only be predicted 24 hours prior. I have learned that through my experience in weather watching anyways.

Honestly 12mph winds is considered calm on Falcon...if it really only blows 12. Falcon has been the most consistantly windy lake I've fished...if you don't count whatever lake I happen at on any given day!

When you're on the water double it and add 5 is always my philosophy.

12 x 2 + 5 = 29 MPH

Let me know how far off I am...

Maybe I'm just blessed but it isn't always windy when I've been at the lake. It is a tough lake to fish in the wind though, not a lot of wind blocking topography. If it get's too bad, I'll usually run-up the Salado.

North 25+ when you are all the way down south is considered Windy. That usually involves Heinekens and alot of Idling when crossing the lake.
