Granted Loomis GLX are sweet rods but are there any rods that are in the same ballpark but not $400-500 bucks?? I have heard Doybns are good. Anything else?

You can buy 3 Kistler KLX for that kind of money! I have 2 and a friend of mine just got one and loves it! They fish way better then their price tag....plus they're made from a Texas company!

I have always wondered about Kistler. I know back in the 90s when Castaway was so dominate I think someone broke away from the company and started Kistler? Thanks for the info.

I have a few GLX Loomis rods and I just bought a Dobyns on sale and paid about half the price and it is a little lighter and I think just as sensitive!!

Lol that Denali would never compare to a loomis. Have you fished both or does Denali just give you 20% off? Anyways I love my Gloomis but I couldn't afford an arsenal of them.

Dobyns is a top of the line rod you will not be disappointed in them. They have three price points and all three rods fish really good. 159,249,349 are the price.

Check out the Kistler KLX line. The are probably the best value on the market today for a quality rod at a reasonable price. They are made in the US (Texas).

Trey Kistlers Dad owned castaway during that time and when he sold it Trey made kistler rods. The KLX are the best rods for the 160-300$ price range right now. cant beat a Texas company to!!!! The duckeet white ice and micro magic are also good more the money. But little more pricey than KLX Edit from previous post all of kistlers z-bone and klx blanks are designed by gary Loomis

There's a reason every company around likes to brag about having the Loomis blank. The other high end rods from other companies aren't much cheaper (if any) than the GLX. With that said, I have not tried the new split grip GLX rods.

I wouldn't call that a great price. Better than it was yeah. Great woul be like 2 Hundo to me. I've fished plenty of Loomis rods and never been a fan. They just don't balance good to me
I can backlash toilet paper.
