A select few of my group think you have to have braid on everything to stay tied on to the big girls down there. Was going to get everyone's thoughts on this. I know the water can be somewhat murky in areas but is it murky enough to pass off in this lake? I will have FC on my crank (even though I know most say mono) but t-rig, c-rig, jig on braid????

I fish Falcon every chance I get... 50# braid power pro with 20# mono leader for jigs, Trig for me. 20lb mono for everything else. Big game mono is tough...

Those Falcon bass are mean, the 3# fish fight like 7-8s at choke... Caught several 6-8s at Falcon and was very glad I was braided up!!!

Yes. You will get fewer bites on braid. I only use braid when flipping the brush, which there is not much of it left under water right now.

I tried braid at falcon and soon found out mesquite trees don't break so I ended up trashing a good hole going in after my jig. Stuck with 20lb invizx after that.

When the wind blows braid is not good. That is the only reason I use 25# XPS Floro. When I can I will pitch and flip Braid.

For me it's been more a matter of application to technique to lake to time-of-year, etc...

Worm, Falcon, May, 50# braid/FC, CR - 9 pounder

Jig, Falcon, Oct, 12# FC, casting - 8 pounder

Fluke, Falcon, Jul, 35# braid, flipping - 8 pounder

Crank, Falcon, Jan, 14# FC, casting - 8 pounder

Just four examples...

Braid all the way to the jig.

Mono for everything else

Thanks, Billy

I stick to the 20-25 lb FC and mono for the crank. A wise man that has fished Falcon for over 30 years once told me, I'll take 7 bites to 2 and take my chances getting the fish to the boat.

I crank with 15# fluoro out there, other baits are on 20-25# fluoro depending on the situation. I hardly ever use braid down there

If ur going to fish in very heavy cover you will want 50lb braid
I typically use 20lb flouro or mono and 50lb braid

Awesome. Mixed results as I expected but I like to hear both ends of the argument. With the lake being so low I was wondering how much thick stuff was underwater still. Thanks guys. Braid for jig it is and FC on everything else smile

The guides I know use 20 or 25 lb floro for most everything. I'm not as skilled or as brave as they are so I use braid when fishing around trees and bushes.
