Has anyone ever fished the pond between Park and Brown. It is very close to McMillan Jr. High school

On Google maps you can pull it up and it is called "Soil Conservation Service Site 5 Reservoir"

I heard it dried up a summer or two ago, to me it looks big enough to not dry out but I dont know. If it is soil conservation does I am assuming it is legal to fish?

Read on this forum and others that it is private property...or at least half of it is.

Sorry to bring this back from the dead but......

Was wondering if it was privately owned or if people were allowed to fish here. And if private who to contact for permission if possible. Anyone know? PM if needed I grew up in Wylie but never knew this place existed thanks for any info.

Well I'll be, Ive lived here about 15 years and I had no idea it was there. If you go down the east side of it using Google street view it doesn't even appear to be fenced, and I don't see any no trespassing signs' So if that is the case I'd say at the very least that part of it is probably ok to fish. I'm sure anybody who lives in that neighborhood next to it could fill you in about it. Looking at the tracts of open space running through there I wonder if it might be designated for the greenbelt/nature preserve trail system being created throughout the area? I kinda doubt it went dry too by looking at it. Unless it is really silted in and shallow. Probablly got to looking pretty rough though, like all the other water bodies in the area.

Most of the soil conservation lakes are actually on private property. Be sure to ask for permission before fishing on one.

I'm with you on that, and if there is any doubt I just don't go there. I have way too many places to fish that are not private or that access is not a problem to waste my time trying to fish on somebody else's place. You can't have fun fishing when you're looking over your shoulder the whole time. Unfortunately the tendency of a large group of bankfishers to completely trash out the shoreline pretty much negates any good nature a land owner might have had towards fishermen. It's easy to see why.

Just wondering if anyone knows who owns the land if private. Its a long shot to ask permission as most likely the answer would be no but its free to ask. It would be an interesting place to check out with a kayak if permissable. Its not too far from where I live either. Only interested in catch and release as I only keep fish from the big lakes like Lavon for example.

Google street view of the place.

The pond your looking at is a private pond. Normally not being fished. There is a large barbwire fence that runs through the middle. The owners have in the past not said much about people fishing then at times call the police. Be very carful of all the snakes in that pond. Most are not going to hurt you but a few have been the ones with fangs.

Not planning on fishing there without permission, no fishing spot has enough reward to pay trespassing fines. But thank you for info. was hoping someone on here knew who to get in touch with to gain permission but its not a great big deal was just curious.
