I've fished all my life, but have never done much trolling. I was thinking about giving it a shot this weekend because the whites are staging at the mouth of the river in deeper water. I was wondering if y'all had any tips or suggestions for a newb.
Thanks in advance!

Troll the river channel using Rapala #5 shad colored Shad Raps or chrome black backed rattletraps. Troll slow as you can and if you don't get any takers speed up a little until you find the speed they want. When you catch a fish make another pass or two back across the same area and you should catch more. If not, keep moving.

No need to troll this time of year. Slabbing is picking up as water warms up drop a fluke down there also. Easy pickings. Especially if they're deep and you know where they are.

Throw your line out, idol, and sit back and have a beer. That's how I troll.

Can`t catch`em if your lines ain`t in the water!

You can use just about any lure that will sink when trolled but you want the lure to be at the depth that holds fish
Use the hell-pet rig, search it on this forum
the hellbender/pet spoon is a time tested method

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

I think it was LakeGuide who posted a long thread on trolling last summer. U might wanna look up his posts and find it. IMHO it's way early to start trolling but its coming smile

The smaller your line is the deeper your lure will go. You choose the size. I try to use 6 lb for whites.

white or green spec rigs work good for trolling for whites....there cheap, depending on where you fish you will lose some to hang ups

I am glad I am not the only one that gets chased by people when they see you catch a fish

I was catching them on Texoma with flukes while striper fishing. They where more aggressive strikes over the striper "taps", that's for sure.

Thanks for all the input guys! I know it's going to be a lot of trial and error, but that's what makes fishing fun.
