how many of the hat haters on this post have ever fished a tournament on falcon? that has done as much or more damage to the lake than the meat hunters!

I agree it isn't right to keep the larger bass but I am with Reid on the fact that it will just keep happening down there. So how to change things? No one here has said it's good to kill the big ones, only that it's legal, right? Can't we start a letter campaign to the TPWD to make it illegal to keep these larger fish? It's not like it going to stop someone from getting fish for food, just not as much I guess. How could it be fied without becoming a slot lake? Say someone gets checked at the ramp as they leave. They tell the game warden "I'm in a trailer tournament and am taking the fish to be weighed in at where ever." Just no point in going on and on about a "problem" that can't and won't get fixed...

I know as a Tournament Fishermen, fish I have released I am sure have parished regardless of the care I gave them,I hate losing one of them but I would be naive to think all survived. Reading this got me to thinking about legal limits and keeping fish, Lets say that all of us that tournament fish kept all our fish we caught, be it pre fishing, Tournaments, everything was kept. Lets also say those who just go out and fish for fun but instead of releasing fish they kept there limit. I would think that in time we would see the bass population drop a whole bunch. We have to remember there is a lot more fisherman out there now then when there was when these limits were created, we have better boats, eltronics, baits, motors and we can now get to those bass hiding places that once maybe a fish could hide out without seeing a bait. My point in all of this is that yes it is true this gentleman is doing nothing wrong and has that right to keep the fish he catches as the law says but if we all kept everything we caught and removed 1,000s of fish a day you would see the difference I assure you. I think that TP&W should not consider a catch and release precentage in regards to fish kept, maybe they dont but like I said the sheer numbers of fish that would be removed would have a major impact on any fishery. I am glad that all though I understand that a precentage of Tournament fish parish, We atleast try to make sure that the majority do survive and have the abilty to spawn and be caught again and sometimes I guess that means being caught by those who keep there limit everytime they go. A lot of guys say they will keep a few fish but release most, I think that is awesome, to have anything worth having is something worth taking care of and taking a max limit out everyday is just taking and not giving back.
I am blessed to have a opportunity to live a childhood dream as a professional wrestler

It is nice that some of the tournaments trails have decided to lower the limit of fish that can be weighed in to only three but there a lot of fish besides the top three that are in the live well for several hours and are replaced later in the day with a larger fish or a live fish because one has expired. MLF has a really good format in that all fish are immediately returned to the lake.

Loose lips sinks ships!!!! Should have kept falcon a secret longer than what they did. Give it some time all the primadonna fisherman will give up and go back to watching fishing show on tv. Everyone know that guy that has all the new gear but when you say let's go fishing cause its Saturday. He's says its too cold, too hot, too windy, or too early.

How about a 5 fish daily limit and two days in possession.. Last I heard a Game Warden could still search your house or vehicle without a warrant. A few states have these limits on fish. I don't hunt much any more but I think Texas still has a two day possession limit on most birds...That would stop a whole bunch of the freezer fillers/burners.

see, that's thinking positive.
Except the five fish limit does not stop the pilaging of the mosters that ruin the results for others, so you'd need to make it a slot with nothing 10 or over leaving the ramp. Anyone second the motion?
Still believe we should petition the powers that be about it.

It's a done deal. Falcon is all done, it will be years before that lake comes around if it ever comes back. I fished Falcon for 11 years and I have never seen the lake fish so slow.
