Stopped by Cabelas a couple of weeks ago and found a new Humminbird 788C with internal GPS and all accessories in what I thought was a sealed box in their Bargain Cave. The sales tag said was new but was being discontinued. I bought it at what was a great price. I finally get around to opening it tonight nad right off the bat I noticed the accessiries were missing for the most part. I then take the int out of the non-sealed plastic wrapper and notice its kinda rough looking. Almost like someone sprayed sunscreen on it as it had spots that had permeated onto the plastic. Also notice the map chip cover will not close. I then realized it was an old 787 unit, Guess someone bought a 788 and returned the old unit and got their money back. I am gonna power it up in the AM and I pray to God when I call Humminbird it was registered and they give me that name. I am gonna take it back to Cabelas and pass on that info as well. Absolutely sorry thing to do to Cabelas or any store for that matter. I have bought a ton of stuff out of the Bargain Cave and this is the first time this has happened. Junk like this is why stores have higher operating costs and we as consumers get toi deal with it.

I've have seen rapala x-raps on the shelf in megabass ito vision cases at basspro in grapevine. Those girls running the return desk have no idea the difference between those baits. Some dude got some $25 dollar mega bass and put some clearance $6 dollar x-rap's back in the package and returned them.

Call a spade a spade and a thief a thief. We would all be surprised as how much markup we have to pay because shop lifting and thievery because of these &$$40/3$ who think they are only hurting the man. Sorry you were one of the victims.

Happens all the time. Pure scum that do it. But,if stores would have a stricter return rules it could cure some of it. Also better hiring policies.

Stricter return rules would fix it. But you wouldn't shop there. Smarter return associates would cost too much. People are always going to steal and we ultimately pay for it.

I work for REI and return policy is a 100% satisfaction. You would not believe what people will return and complain about product. Problem is the product is worn out and they want a new one. No morals.

I was a fishing mgr at Sportsmans Warehouse for 5 years, the stories I could tell you would make you shake your head just like it did me at the time. I didn't make the return policy but had to enforce it almost daily....every time I thought I'd seen it all...I was proven wrong.

Sad that it happens everywhere..in college I worked at Home Depot and it was amazing what people would bring back tool wise. Guys would break unbreakable tools and try to return them and claim they were the higher end model in an attempt to make money...the worst were private contactors trying to pocket money they were paid for materials...

Sorry man hope you get your money back. This is why academy is gettin stricter on their returns as well. As a matter of fact there is a post in the rod and reel section complaining about a discontinued all star rod HE broke that academy didn't want to take back.
