well I just read a pretty cool post by C-frog about a bass rig called the donkey-rig. I don't know about y'all but I've never heard og anything like it. That got me thinking about what else could be out there. So if you've got a rig that not too many people know about or that has lost popularity in recent years and you don't mind telling us about it. Post it up and lets see what we can find.

Not really a new rig but a twist on an old one. If you are using a Texas rig with a craw, you can turn your bullet weight backwards so that it kick up a little dirt on he bottom resembling the way a real crawfish does.

You will most likely never see me throwing a Carolina rig, however you will almost always see me with a bullet weight pegged 12"-24" above my hook. Sometimes I'll trade it for a split shot. I use the little rubber strings you run through the weight, then cut off the excess.

There's the reverse-rigged tube... I've had some good days with that one...

like the man says...if you're swimming in the ocean and get bitten by a shark, its not a shark attack. You're in THEIR neighborhood. If you're at home in your shower, turn around and a shark is in there with you...THAT'S a shark attack

He really sounds like he knows what he is talking about, but it looks like its backward from a real crawfish. They swim backwards..this would pull it forward. Is that the idea, or am I missing something?

Its a punching rig..With the arms up and bullet weight down it should be a much more clean punch through thick cover to get to bass/fish that bury themselves....On the fall it puts them swimming correctly....Which I think doesn't matter much at all.

Also when you're punching with a fairly big weight in super heavy cover you need to set the hook like you mean it, which in turn means that big weight being in front of the hook on a normal pegged or t rig can pop the fish's mouth open and the hook won't dig... With the weight a the bottom of the bend this doesn't happen....

Punch rigs ain't finesse... It's crashing through the cover fast and it's a reaction bite. The realism of the swimming makes little difference....

That makes sense. So after the initial cast, punch, and drop to the bottom, if you don't get a strike, how do you work the lure? Like you would a T-rig worm?

Well I have thrown it some in grass and pads.. I look for 'holes' in the surface and drop or pitch it into them. When it hits bottom I might lift and shake once but that's it, if they don't bite it pretty much immediately then I pull it out and move to the next hole...

Tandem flukes can really catch fish. Tie a palomar knot through a small swivel, use the two ends of the knot to tie on to. This rig will catch all kinds of fish.
