Would you prefer it went back to the good old days when you weighed 10 ??

Everyone gets to weigh their best three. I would say that's an even deal.

Last year the same tournament had 228.... So what exactly was it saying when it was speaking for itself?

I can see it now...over 200 entries at Fork and it takes 8.50 (unless an over is caught) to win. There will be a very tight bottleneck at the top and thru out.

3 fish , 5 fish, you still have to go out and compete, I think it is a good concept and its good to see a company bring something different for a whole season, i am one who enjoys the challenge of putting a 5 fish limit together and glad there are good trails to offer that as well. Trying to upgrade a 5 bag limit is always a fun challenge but I enjoyed the 3 fish event because you do have to fish differently and fish for a big bite or maybe you have some good fish and you try to add ounces per fish, the lake also has a lot to do with it also as Amistad will be different than LBJ.

The new format is not for me but I know this much. Chad and Jeff at Champs did not get to be the biggest and best trail in Texas on accident. I understand it is a business to them and making a profit has to be a focus. I respect the heck out of them for stepping out there and shaking things up. So far it looks like the entries are coming. I wish them nothing but huge success.

i think its better for everyone including the fish. This week at Lake Amistad they were 216 entries. 216x2 is 432 fish that have a better chance of survival...

You still have to catch them, but you'll see that guy that got lucky and caught 1 10+ fish and has 2 more swimmers to go with it getting close to the top, whereas before he prob doesn't sniff a check. It's the way of the world, appeal to those who posses less than average skills or do not put in the time and effort to go out and practice. EVERYONE DESERVES A "FAIR SHAKE" mentality.
The good anglers who put in the time will still rise to the top most of time.

It's kind of the "Upward" version of big league tourney fishing.

Bottom line in a business is your bottom line, I cannot fault Champs for trying to "trick it up" to raise participation and appeal to those who want to fish for " THAT 1 LUCKY BITE". It will def bring in more anglers, thus more money....

not if was last instead of first... Numbers tend to dwindle as the AOY race gets away from teams. If it is first in the series it will always have 200 though you are right about that.

Why not just make them all a big bass tournament?

This subject has been beat to death every since Bass Champs announced it. Funny thing is most people complaining about it don't even fish it. It is your choice fish it or don't fish it...Bass Champs runs a great trail here in Texas!

I love the new format and by the looks of number of anglers that show up to fish bass champs so do many others. Correct me if I am wrong but most people on this site have full time jobs other than tournament fishing. This format allows those of us that have to juggle family time, work, travel, practice days, etc. the ability to fish at a competitive level for a good payout. Sure there is a bit of luck involved in catching a 10 vs catching a 5 but so what, you still have to catch fish and fish off the same set of rules as everyone else so unless I am missing something whats the big deal? I think its pretty simple, if you like the format fish, if not dont fish.
