Do you prefer micro guides or not? Is there added benefit besides being lighter?

I prefer them, but I couldn't swear there's an advantage.
I have many leather bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany.

Im sure Ill awaken the haters...but I like the standard size guides they would appear to be more forgiving, especially when throwing spliced lines like braid to floro and you have that knot passing through the guides also when the cotton woods bloom and you get that annoying clump wrapped around your line and it goes a ticking out the guides on a cast, now throw in the occasional winter fishing when the guides start freezing up from the water on your line, over all it has to affect distance, accuracy, ect....LOL...just my two cents.

I do not like them. To easy to knock off when putting into the rod locker and they are $20 each to put back on. Second thing is if you use one with micro guides the reel needs to be a low profile reel so that the line coming out front will not rub the top of the guide. When this happens with a larger reels your cast will come up shorter in most cases.I have all low profile reels on the micro guides. I have a customer that on all is Ducketts clipped the first guide off all the rods to improve his casting distance and it works. I threw one clipped and one with out and it made a big difference in distance. So with all that being said IMO if you use a low profile reel on them you are ok but be careful putting them in the rod box. After fishing with them a little over two years now I do not get any new rods with the micros. I use the standard size. If it is not broke dont fix it.

The advantage to me comes when using weightless plastics or light T-Rig. Why someone would be using micro for heavier lures or when tying on to another line doesn't make sense to me....
If you ain't first you're last.

I had a micro guide rod. I did not like it because when my 20 LB Fluro was a few days old and started getting memory the big loops would not go back through the guides unless you had a real heavy lure on a light jig or spinner bait did not want to pull those loops back through the guides. I think if you use just Mono or braid in low weight you will be OK. I did not have a problem throwing them but I did have revo's on them.

Agree - there is so much hype concerning fishing equipment that it's difficult to determine what's real and what's not without actually purchasing something and using it. For me, Micro guides have offered nothing other than rod guide repairs.

I like to extra feel it gives you when fishing soft plastics however, I have busted countless guides. I'm done with them.
