I'll probably have a kayak fishing clinic next and will be looking for helpers. Start early AM head up the Yegua fish like crazy paddle back to the Park Pavilion and have a late afternoon fish fry of what we catch that day.. Maybe make it a TFF/TKF/State Park joint venture. Any interest out there to attend something like this???

If the weather Saturday is anything like today we are going to have a heck of a good time at the park!

Three of us fishing and only had 4 white bass keepers, another tough day on yegua. Cleaned the fish and gave them to Ben for the clinic and some sweet hot pickles.

Cates, it was a tough day for me on Nails Creek as well. Got skunked. I did get to meet some fellow kayakers though. Here they are with the trailway bridge in the background.

Wow I haven't been up nails creek in a long time. Is that the same bridge? I didn't know it was that high up or I never been up there when the water was that low.

We had a great time Saturday at the park pavilion and it sounds like it was a better day to tie flies and tell lies anyway Thanks go out to all of you who visited Nails Creek Park and the Fish Camp 2013.. Next up will be a kayak fishing clinic or two! One between now and spring break and/or one during spring break. Depends greatly on what the weather does...

The lake is close to two feet low right now, so that bridge is definitely looking taller than normal. Normally that green grassy area along the bank is under water.

That was me and my youngest daughter in the pic from jsinn01...we just got completely lucky and were giving my dad's new travel trailer it's first shake down and ran into the Fish Camp at Nails Creek...how cool is that! The park staff and volunteers almost seemed to outnumber the campers.
I've been beating the banks for a few years at Newmans bottom, but with the yak rentals available at Nails Creek, I can see alot more paddling in my future...and maybe even a Craig's List purchase before long!!! Also doesn't hurt that my folks have a B&B (and a new travel trailer) in Carmine about 15 minutes from the Nails Creek boat ramp...
Thanks again to all the folks involved and new friends we met. Especially the Park Rangers, Ben, Jarred and Bill.
Count me in for the yak fishing clinic!!!

Sam, The sweet-hot pickles were great! I ate four before the hot kicked in! I've got a few left for lunch Monday Thanks!

How about a kayak fishing tour of Yegua creek on the 23 of February and again on March 9th. Launching from Nails Creek around 8am and returning to the park around 3pm to fry up some fish and shoot the bull... I'm fishing this time so there can be no excuses
