I owned one for a couple years, and it was great. Mostly fished Toledo Bend and the Sabine River. Bought it from a friend who had purchased it used in Houston a fews years before he sold it. Fast boat with lots of storage.

Yea this boat is huge (to me). I want to get it but just wanted some input first. Only draw back is it has a 150hp and no electronics the seller took them and the trolling batteries.

Well, if you like the boat and you consider it in good condition, then the price should be adjusted for missing items you will have to buy. If he does that, then I say go for it. You don't want to invest a bunch of money in the rig and then have to replace seats, carpet, batteries, and electronics. You would be better off locating a boat ready to fish for a little more money.

I had the 896 Savage/Summit Edition, which is the previous years model to the 898. I believe they are almost identical. It was a great boat, good ride, lots of storage. However, I think it will be under-powered with a 150hp.

150 on that hull will be a dog. You'll be less than satisfied and spend a good chunk of cash to get it to run "right" and it'll never happen. I'd pass.

Yea Pat that's been on my mind pretty heavy. I think I can get a boat with the right HP and electronics on board in the 9-10 range.

If y'all come across any in that range send them my way. Would like a 20 footer and will pay a little more for the right boat.

As long as I have been on the TFF I have heard nothing but good things about Tommy and the people at Rockwall Marine. While I have never done any business with them, I would not hesitate if I lived closer. That is clean for a 93. Do yo know those guys over there at Rockwall?
