Can i slide my hohn boat down the concrete ramp into the little channel before the main river channel? Then put motor on later. Is there at least a foot of water in that long creek? At rebecca creek ramp that is.

Haven't seen it myself. I don't know. I do know they have a chain up across it.

Cool front moving through with some rain. might just trigger the run. Will be out there soon after, I think.

Does everyone have their own version of exactly where "the mouth of the river" really is, or is there a definite description/location? I know where the Crane's Mill fishing pier is, and where water gushes out of the water(sometimes), and where Rebecca Creek joins the river....
Need to improve my LMB fishing, running out of time.

Here is what I consider the mouth of the river and where the reservoir starts. This time of year, I always start at area 29 marked on the map. This is Mystic Shores. I always run all the way to the back of this cove just to see.... Where the river turns close to shore near area 29 is a great place for the whites between Jan to late Feb. With no current, this could be nothing but a goose chase. I have always had great luck with 1/4 oz Roadrunners and I have got them on all colors (yellow and white and some crazy colors I don't even know what to call them). They are cheap, dive fast and it does not hurt too bad to lose a few. It's been so long since I have been on Canyon <sigh>. School, work, family.... Wish I could go.

Has anyone seen the ramp at Rebecca Creek? Could you launch a small boat there?

According to USACE, boat ramp 11 is closed due to low water level. I have been there before when it was closed and could easily launch my canoe but they do put up a chain to stop trailered boats from launch. I havent been up there this year though. You can check ramp closures here Canyon Boat Ramp closures

What I consider the mouth of the river is from the tip of Craine's Mill park all the way to the first right turn as shown in the circle on the map above. Whites generally stage in that area even moreso when the lake is at normal levels just before they move upriver to spawn.
As for boat ramp #11 and launching there when the water is down, the only way to get to the river is dragging a canoe or kayak to the receeding water which can be not too far from the end of the ramp all the way to the river channel some 300 yards from the boat ramp. One member on the board that has moved out of state, used to fish solely from his Pelican canoe and he would drag it that 300 yards down to the river from there and had great success.

i wne to thst boat ramp really late january on like the 28th or thereabouts. the end of the boat ramp is sitting in about 3 FOW but there is still water on that boat ramp so a canoe or kayak can still be launched. possibly a small jon boat if youd want to carry it down there and over the rope blocking it since the boat ramp is roped off so you cant get a truck or trailer down there. i fished beside the ramp since it was closed off and i wouldnt be hurting boat traffic. no luck at all besides netting about 7 or so shad off the ramp but thats canyon lake for you.

It's a little early for that end of the lake. Next weeks night temps look to be in the 40's and 50's and it's always cooler in the hill country and that water temp needs to be up and the nights in the 60's and above with warm days before those fish get active.
