Hoping the rumors about the bass making a comeback at Purtis Creek maybe true this year. Anybody know if any of the bass have moved up shallow enough for sight fishing yet? Been a few years since I sight fished there and was hoping to try there this year.

I can't imagine they would be up on beds yet. Plus, with the cold weather this weekend it should kick it back even more. I would bet it will be mid March before those fish move up on beds. That's not to say over the next couple of weeks the fish won't be moving up, just not on beds IMO.

The fish have always been there, just without the grass it's harder to find them and the lake stays muddy most of the time because either the wind or those thousands of grass carp thrashing around in the shallows.

What a waste.. That little lake had so much potential and instead of controlling the grass some idiot decided to repeat his mistakes on other lakes there.... Just a waste

Or even a little earlier since that is a small lake. March 17 last year I caught a 6-7ish up in the back end. We were fishing too fast and I slowed down with a Mag fluke and finally connected after missing a few. They had just opened the lake back up because of high water the week before. The following Saturday caught nothing but buck bass. The water was dingy due to a rain so I started using an orange spinnerbait with a gold willow blade. Caught quite a few fish but nothing of any size.
And this years winter is milder than last year. IMHO!
Good luck.
