Hey Guys,
I'm headed up to Broken Bow with the wife and another couple weekend after next. None of us have been there before. We'll be in late Friday and then have all of Saturday and Sunday and drive back Monday. Fishing is definitely on the agenda, but I could use some help if anyone could help me put together an agenda to give to the the wife on other can't miss items. Also does anyone know about the cabins as the web site is very confusing on which ones are located where? I'm leaning towards a tent unless the weather looks uncertain. I'm afraid the wife doesn't mix well with rain and tents.
Thanks!

I stayed in the cabins this past year and they are quite nice. It is a nightmare to try and book a cabin there unless you just call as the park does not actually do the online bookings and there can be a mess of confusion. We stayed in cabin 45 which was located right on the river (I believe all of the cabins in the 40's were on the river). As far as things to do there is plenty, not sure what your wife and the other couple are into but there is: Horseback riding Bird trails (bald eagles etc.) Hiking Trails Canoe/kayaking down from the regulation dam (might be a bit cold for this) Heavener Runestone state park (old viking area, neat photo spots, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heavener_Runestone_State_Park) Talimena Drive (great drive with several spots to take great photos, http://www.talimenascenicdrive.com/) And as always, just fishing and enjoying being away from it all.

You forgot 'Girls Gone Wine'... It's a little winery in Hochatown where the ladies can go for wine tasting. They might not mind the rain so much if they have a little wine!!
Abendigo's is a very upscale restaurant. They allow you to BYOB. Their steaks are really good.
The marina on Broken Bow Lake is nice, too. They have very nice rooms, and the lodge itself is nice enough that the ladies wouldn't mind just "hanging out" and looking at the scenery. They even have boat rentals.
There are a few novelty & antique shops in the area. The hiking, as mentioned above, is great. It's a great place to take a camera. There are semi-tame deer that don't bolt off. She can take LOTS of photos!
As far as cabins go, the ones in the park are decent. You can do a Google search for Beavers Bend Cabins, and the entire area is at your fingertips. You will have to call some of the management companies to find out where the cabins are. There are lots & lots of cabins... from efficiency to huge lodges!
Hope this helps!

I second split cane's comments on "Girls Gone Wine" and Abendigo's restaurant. The wine at "Girls" is pretty good. Abendigo's is closed on Sunday & Monday. I would take your foods & drinks with you. Beer is only available locally.
We usually stay at Fox Run Cabins which is across the hwy from "Girls Gone Wine." Full kitchens and great accomodations with good beds, and a Jacuzzi hot tub.
This is their off season, so a lot of shops & restaurants are closed for the season, or on winter hours.
For fly shops, there is 3 Rivers at Hochatown, and Beavers Bend Fly Shop in the park. I can recommend them both.

Great info all! Wife is sadly allergic to wine, but i might have to do some sampling. Restaurant sounds great and thanks for the fly shop recommendations.

spllit cane-
How is the Blue Rooster? My fishing buddy & I were up there fishing the week before Christmas, and we wondered about the quality of the food. Hopefully, they'll stay open.
Unfortunately, Vinnie's Diner has closed, and there was a "For Sale" sign on the property. Always stopped in there for breakfast or lunch. Tough economic times.

I like the Blue Rooster. Food is good. Beer is cold... even if it is 3.2 beer.

Wish I could help but I the only time I leave the river is to leave lol. There are some great cabins very close to the park that when splitting are very reasonable. These have all the ammenities that you are willing to pay for for the ladies big screens hot tubs pool tables. For me I have done the cabin thing once but as I don't have many fishing buddies that flyfish like me, I either do the tent thing or sleep in the truck.
