Did you see those drunk idiots out there at the rocks claiming they were trying to go noodling? I was trying to catch largemouths and they just jumped in and scared off my wall hanger. This front shouldnt push them back too much. Temps arent dropping very much at all. I'm hoping to go catching them after the weekend.

Welcome aboard bankston I know the front put the crappie off... good luck!

Is there flow on the Nolan? Do the usual places have flow? I'm wondering about putting in a Kimble Bend and motoring up the River to see where the fishies are...??

Walked almost to Kimble Bend today and saw a few boats. No fish for us saw a couple of black bass caught by others. Saw a FEW Sandies on top. Best of luck!

Some time this weekend (starts on Wednesday for me this week!) I'm gonna try to hit the Nolan or Horseshoe. Assuming I can get away from the house I'll post a how I did thread. Goodluck everybody!

I Used to love going to the Nolan until every one and his dog found out about it and started going there. Now I just try and find the least crowded place possible lol. Which is a huge challenge itself. Good luck out there if yall go. If you were smart you would keep quiet about the run starting early and go out there and have some fun before the crowds start showing up.

I have been fishing the Nolan for 25 yrs and I know it was fished long before then. People have known about that place as long as I have been going there. Good places never stay a secret nor should they. Still going to need alot of rain to get it going.

I fished it Sunday. No flow and low water levels. Saw some sandies on top chasing shad, but couldn't entice them with our offerings.
Went up the river as far as you could go in a super shallow boat and fished all the way back down river to the big rock bluff.
Caught 2 really nice females at the rock bluff and that was it. I think there was a spurt of fish that went up and spawned already.
Saw where Mike Acosta reported spawned out fish on the main lake and I have a feeling those fish came from the Nolan.
If we get some flow in the river and the water warms up again it will turn back on.
Until then, I will be headed up the Brazos past Ham's Creek.

Good places never stay a secret nor should they. Still going to need alot of rain to get it going. Well they must have taken a break when I first started fishing it there were normally maybe only 10 or so cars parked there. Here in the last few years its been 50+ cars. So something happened. I know it was never a secret spot but it sure seems to have gained alot of interest recently. The thing I like though is seeing the game warden out there all the time. Keeps everyone honest at least.

naw it did not, always been folkss there but not like the last few years. it used to be locals and a few out of town folks that were smart enough to look at a map. a guy that looked at a mapp and risked a 2 hour drive to check a stream for fish is a guy that earned a fish. 70 car loads of city folk that all likes it on face book, make me yearn for the days when cars were broken in to and burnt.

There is a corp boat ramp on the Nolan. That is where we unload and there are only 1 to 3 vehicles in the parking lot. Don't ask me how to get there. I know how to go but don't know the road names. Use google earth and you will find it. Public forums have changed the face of fishing for sure. My fishing skills have improved 500% because of them. Nothing is all pros. You have to take the good with the bad, and that is some of the bad. Overall the sport of fishing is healthier because of public forums.
