We had so much fun with our A-RIG poll we decided lets do some more! So were calling it the WPOW or Wednesday Poll of the WEEK! IT won't be every week but we will do our best. So as you can see let's weigh in on colors. Are they for catching more fish or more fisherman, Weigh in!
Please choose all that apply for your style of fishing, and if so let us know what you chose and why!
In case you were wondering why so many choices, it goes along with the theme!

Green pumpkin and motor oil colored worms seems to work the best for me on most west Texas lakes I fish, I don't know why those colors are so good, but I do know the fish seem to get really mad at them or something and they are either trying to kill it or just eat it. In my opinion if I'm getting fish in the boat with them colored worms I don't see a need to experiment with alot of other colors.
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know when to go fishing.

Funny it seems like some times one color works better on a specific lake no matter how many guys throw it or how many times you use it even on different lures through out the year. The real question is, is that because more guys are throwing that color so it seems like it works better or it does it actually work better?

I wonder if the regional/lake differences in colors has something to do with confidence?

It's possible i'm sure most guys have a confidence color that they go to every time. That definitely could play a role in the color debate, it's amazing how many different factors there are that play into this debate. Which is one of the reasons we chose it.

From personal experience I feel you can fish more when you have a few select colors. Cranks- sexy shad, chart sexy shad and a crawfish. Worms - blue flake watermelon anything and junebug. Jigs black and blue, craw colored, or some sort of green or watermelon color.

Colors are best if mimicking natural color of forage. Craw dads change color throughout the year. Red flake adds a wounded look. Colors are a concern when fishing deep, muddy and clear waters. If fishing muddy or heavily stained water, I use chartreuse. Some lakes like Fork have a reputation for Tomatoe Red, so local success can be a factor, but I usually don't hold to that unless I'm at Falcon where Watermellon Red is dominate. HA! Blake and blue for deep water and dark colors for low light and night. White on white for smallies. Red is the first color in the spectrum lost in deep water and low light. I prefer a natural color scheme over sexy shad, but what do I know. They say match the hatch, but who really takes the time to cast a net to check this out? The closest I've done for this is to check the live well to see if fish caught have gergitated a minnow or craw dad to check color. Never understood when to use white. Some say white is good for sight fishing. Bubblegum is another color that puts me at a quandary. I have color preference to specific baits Spinnerbaits are different than cranks. Worms are different than creatures . I listen to what is successful with others then either use it or a slight variation for offering something different in high pressure areas. Color is mostly a confidence issue using logical reasoning. IMHO.
"If you've quit learn'n, you might'as well quit fish'n cuz yer not catch'n as many fish as ya should be!"

My color selector is very old. Maybe from the 80s? I just saw it in an old storage box. It still turned on. Maybe I should use it again. LOL.

They do make a new digital version of the color-c-lector some people swear by it. Bubblegum confuses me too, i think our biggest downfall as fisherman is that we view the fish as being intelligent and we overcomplicate them. Although as many times as we get "skunked" maybe they are as smart us. Haha! Insert X-files music.

Bubblegum is a dynamite color at times. I have different confidence colors I use on different baits. Certain lakes I also have certain colors I will use. Take lake houston and Livingston for example. Both typical fairly dirty water but I use two TOTALLY different colors 99% time.
I can backlash toilet paper.
