Tawakoni state park...

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

When I was younger I saw them out in glen rose, but haven't made it out there to see if they still are, really anxious to get a fishing trip going around march.

The finest gift you can give to any fisherman is to put a good fish back, and who knows if the fish that you caught isnt someone elses gift to you? Lee Wulff

Purtis Creek. Tons of grass carp, and you may catch big bass and catfish while you are at it. Extremely nice and safe state park as well.

You can check the TP&WL State parks. Maybe find other areas around you. Plus the first Saturday in June you can fish any lake without a license.
