We were just cruising around on Texoma yesterday enjoying the beautiful afternoon. My father in law expressed interest in seeing a bald eagle and was talking about the bald eagle cruises they do on Texoma Saturday mornings. I told him I would do my best to find him one and pulled out the binoculars and started searching, and taking grief from my wife and sister in law about being a dork who would never find one or something to that effect. about half hour later I could see two white spots in a tree about half mile off, as we got closer I could finally confirm it was an eagle and we watched him for a good 30 minutes before he finally took off. we even got to see him dive for a fish so to get a picture I held my iPhone up to the binoculars and came away with this. He was found on the west side of the 289 peninsula!

Awesome -
I've seen two in the wild - one in Minnesota over Lake Minnetonka and one grabbing a rabbit out of the median on I-80 on the way to Omaha. About 50 yards in front of me . . . . .
I never saw the rabbit, I never saw the eagle - until WHAM ! ! ! !
Flying rabbit.
Raptors are 'way cool .

Nice pic especially under the circumstances. I've seen quite a few back in Ohio/Indiana, but noe here in Texas yet. They used to fly right overhead down the stream I would be fishing nearly every time I was there. My favorite is the Golden Eagle though. See one of those up close and they are beautiful. I've only had the luck to see one while living in Wyoming, but it was by far the best raptor experience I've ever had.

Raptors are 'way cool . Man the 1st time you are close to one of them attacking. . .it's amazing how loud they're wings slapping are. It will scare you to death. I saw a brown eagle hit the water and grab a little bass once and it sounded like a paddle slapping the water when that bird hit.

Good idea using the binos to get a clear shot in the iPhone.

Well if you've got the free time spend a day exploring the area around texoma and the red river I've seen 4 in the last 4 weeks! 2 just north of dennison, 1 about half mile south of 78 bridge over red river, and this one. I don't know how muh longer they will be here with this warm weather.

Use to see them at lake fork, but I probably haven't fished there in 10 years or so.

I used to love watching the bald eagles build their nests in Maryland.

Great picture. I need to try something like that. We have them at Lake Whitney and had one fly over my head while I was working in the garden a couple of years ago. I was in awe and didn't think to grab my phone and snap a picture. One of the neatest experiences of my life.

Use to see them all the time when I fished Texoma. Not rare at all on that lake.
