Agree with the other comments. I've been trying a few new skills lately, like public speaking....and in each case the exact thing to do is MORE.

Do you research to find the fish and stick to seasonal patterns and presentations to catch fish. Read up on everything you can get your hands on and build your confidence... Ask the question why everytime you catch a fish... It might not make sense right off the bat, but take note and keep an open mind. Try to fish with other anglers better than yourself if you can. Time on the water really pays off and finally putting some pieces of the puzzle together will make it all worth it. Keep at it!  A wise ol' fisherman and guide brought me a copy of a book one day and it really helped me break it down while getting going and understanding what I was looking at... It can be tuff on lakes that dont have a lot of trees/wood, at least for me. If that is the case you should spend some time beating up the docks. Google lake fork fishing report and near the bottom click on fishing tips. Lots of good stuff on there from good guides. I think there are a few on there about dockin for bass.

There is a lot of good information in this thread so that's a start for sure. Like was said, know the seasons, know what the bass should be doing in the season,get a map of the lake you are going to, if the season is prespawn let's say then start with your main lake points that have coves associated with them where fish may go and spawn once the time comes. Once you pick these places out on a map then write you a list on the ones closest to where you are launching and start covering water until you find them, a lot of leg work can be done before you launch your boat, will save you a lot of unproductive time on the water. Good luck and always be safe.

If you're in Central Texas, we have some dates available but they are filling up fast because of the big fish moving. If you would like to spend a couple 2-3 days of intense learning, we can do that as well.

Good luck and always be safe. Agree 100%. Make your plan [places, lures, etc.] before going to the lake and work the plan. If a spot doesn't product, move on until you find fish that are active.The main thing that I have to continually overcome is the - "Oh, that looks like a good spot" and not sticking to my plan.

As mentioned above:
1. Read and learn about the seasonal behavior of bass and bass forage.
2.Learn what types of baits work well in those seasons.
3.Study maps to locate prime areas that line up with seasonal patterns.
4.After having some success and you think you have figured it all out prepare to be dissappointed and accept that you are not going to catch fish every time out.
5.Locate Evan Obrien on the water and tail his butt all day long.

im going tell you its well worth the money to spend on a guide and let them teach you how to use the electronics on the boat to locate bass. +1
