Knew it was going to be slow from the reports but that was confirmed when I pulled into Callihan park. 8 trucks only in the parking lot and only 6 looked like bass rigs trailers.

My plan was to find new stuff that I had never fished before. Being I had not been there in 6 months that was not hard to do due with the low water. Only caught two short ones, one in 10' on a point using crankbait and the other in a ditch at the back of a cove on a spinner bait. Thought I had a share lunker when I foul hooked a 15lb carp with a square bill but once I saw it my hopes faded fast. Weather was perfect with water temps in the low 60's.

Mind if I asked what general areas you hit?

With the low lake level, is it hard to make it out to the main lake from the ramp at callihan? I haven't fished it in 2 years & I'm going to show up in April at first light to pre-fish.

Dude you better do your homework or you will be patching a hull. Lake is down and I can say I have seen it down before but there was a lot of water two years ago. Just be careful man hate to see someone wing it and get hurt or in trouble

You should be fine from Calliham to the main lake just watch your gps and make sure you stay in deep water to the river channel. DO NOT get North of the river channel til you get well past hog island (first island to the left leaving Calliham).

I would say don't even venture close to the mouth of possum or west of Calliham unless you know what you are doing.

Yep, better know the senderas and old roads if your gonna try the possum run. Watching your gps isn't enough if you forget to minus the 15 ft of water missing. I had a brain dead moment and almost stuck it in the mud by huisache island by forgetting that little detail.

What you remember from a couple years ago will do you little good. Reason is a lot of trees that were once standing two years ago are now stumps just under the water level.

I was there a week ago in the river and it looked completely different and I found some of those stumps that used to be tall trees.

Just one more cast!
