Guys,
I am thinking about selling my bay boat for something with dual engines. I have been looking at the Luhrs 29 open. Does anyone have any experience with this boat? I have been able to find some used ones in my price range, which is good, since I think it would be hard for me to convince my wife to allow me to purchase a new boat, especially after seeing the prices at the boat show a week ago.
Thanks

check on thehulltruth.com
TONS of good info on Luhrs boats there. I have read that later model Luhrs had some kind of hull issue. cant remember, but it's over there on THT good luck with your quest!

Lite-Liner,
Thanks for the link. Seems like there are mixed reviews and at least one very pissed off owner.

Thank Nolte,
I heard the same regarding the gas engines.... I'm trying to figure out how to get the purchase past the wife.... I figure that something with a cabin would be more comfortable for her, but it needs to be a fishing boat for me. I would prefer to have a CC with dual engines, but that is something that she would rarely go out in...
The advantages of the CC is, better fuel, easier to go by myself and it has a trailer that I can pull it back to my house. With the cabin, it opens the possibility of overnight trips, AC for the wife and it is a little better for my aging father (would feel more comfortable taking him out on a Luhrs. The negative is that I would have to rent a boat slip, no trailer (not sure what to do in the event of a hurricane)and if they are not desil engines, the cost of going offshore will be a lot more.
A lot to think about and I will be doing my research for the next few months. I don't think I will be ready to purchase until the fall of this year. I cannot justify the cost of a new boat, so I will be looking at used boats. Figure that if I purchase it in the fall, it will give me a few months to service it and get it up to my expectations before the summer comes. I presently have a bay stealth and I really want something that I would feel comfortable going 30+ miles offshore. I want to start to target other fish like, wahoo, dolphin, grouper and AJ's. I know that you can get some deep v single engines that will get you out there, I just do not feel comfortable with a single engine.
thanks again, sorry for the rambling....
