On Thursday I fished with my fishing bud Ronny from Five Points and hunting buddy John from Chappell Hill on Fayette County lake. Winds started out less than 10mph with 35 degree temps, and the winds picked up to about 14 by noon, with white caps when we left the water.

The first spot we stopped the fish were waiting on us, second spot was not bad either. We ended the morning about 11:30 with 75 nice cats for the cleaning table. There were several 7-8# fish and I would estimate that the average weight was 5# or more. As you can see it took 4 coolers to hold the fish. At 5# each, the total weight would be 375# of fish, not a bad morning on the water.

All fish caught on CJ's Monster bait, under corks, in 6-12 foot water.

Holy cow! Leave some for the rest of us. What is the best rig for holding that punchbait?

Best rig for CJ's punch bait is a plain #6 or #4 treble hook...no sponge, no spring, just a plain treble.

Thanks for the advice I had tried a few catfish specific bait hooks and haven't liked any of them. Hard to beat that plain treble I guess,

Nice haul! I think I might have talked to you at the police station pond in College Station on Saturday.
