I'm going to be making my first trip to Tawakoni in mid June. We are going with another family and there will be 8 of us. Is there any waterfront lodging? I've looked on the internet but only found a few places and they are already booked. I would like to rent one place big enough for all of us but if there is somewhere with two cabins by each other and on the water, that would work too.

I drive over Tawakoni and the two towns (East Tawakoni and Tawakoni itself) and don't see anything that looks decent. It's a good fishing lake, but the rest of the surroundings has really declined to the point of being a slum. Just check anything out carefully. You might be better to stay at a nearby town like Quinlan or Emory There are some excellent accommodations at Lake Fork in the way of cabins. I have a place at Fork and go out there about every week. It is also a very good fishing lake and much more accessible in windy conditions. You better have a large boat at Tawakoni if there is any wind at all because it can be like the ocean. Hopefully, some of the locals more familiar with the immediate territory can help.

This place was the first place I called and they are booked. It looked like a real nice place.

Lived here for 8 years... No lodging at all in quinlan... Best bet for 8 would be anchor inn as it meets his water front requirement There are some very nice subdivisions on lake tawakoni, you just can't see them from 276...
Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach
