I currently run a Continental Battery which carries a 1 year free replacement warranty and no pro rated replacement. I have had this battery for exactly 1 year and 2 months and have started having voltage issues. After extended periods of fishing (graphs, live wells and stereo running), I'm seeing low voltage (12.2) and having trouble getting the big motor to start. I have to shut off master power, give it a few seconds, then it starts fine. With this size battery (31 group I believe), I am usually never getting below 13.5 volts and show 14.1 for the most part.

I am assuming its already time for a new battery. I think that warranty sucks and I should be getting a lot more time out of a cranking battery. My prior cranking battery gave me 3+ years of good performance.

What is the BEST battery out there? I'm not a fan of the gel cells, but may consider them. I want worry free replacement for more than a year if possible!

Thanks for any help you can give.

I am using everstarts at walmart which you can get with an 18 month free replacement if you get the right one. Not the greatest battery going but if it goes out especially in a tournament if its early enought i don't think i am ever more than 30 miles from a walmart. I have did that 2 times and was able to fish the better part of the tourny. Other batteries may be hard to do...especially on a sunday.

The Sears Platinum has a 3 year full replacement, of course they are a little more expensive. But, well worth it IMO.

Batteries Plus AGM. Either a 4 or 5 year full replacement. Pricey but so far, so good.

Thanks guys. Going to look into the sears for sure. Used the autozone battery before and got plenty of life out it, had to return it once but got no hassle when doing so.

Optima blue top. I think it is a DM3. I have heard from several friends that the sears battery is very good also.
