Anyone been lately? Sounds like a good weekend getaway. I've heard nothing but good things about the place. Thinking of headin out for a weekend soon, just wondered if anyone has any facts on the subject. What species to target fishing wise? Lodging recommendations? I heard its a good bass lake. Any info you guys can shoot my way would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I took a guide out there 2 years ago,and we were targeting small mouths. We didn't do we'll on small mouths, but we crushed the spots/black bass. Ultra clear water, and be prepared to act accordingly. We threw shaky heads and drop shots all day. Ran into 5 keeper walleyes as well, and them suckers fry up good!

Lake is full of walleye, last year when I was there caught about 20 on med. crankbait in chart/shad and lots of largemouth and spots on the same crankbait caught 4 or 5 smallmouth to...Did good on a A-rig aswell one of the days there. I targeted underwater rock piles, and some of the islands. Like stated before ultra clear and pretty lake..We stayed in some cabins cant remeber the names but ill try to find out.

The lake is clear and deep some standing timber and lots of rocks. Has a big spot population, nice large mouth and smallies.Stay in Broken Bow at a motel cabins run about 180 a night. The drive to the lake is short and once you get there the scenery is beautiful. The lake is 10 feet low so keep that in mind when running around the islands for the most part the bank have a lot of steep drops.

I usually wait until March to fish Broken Bow but if I went in February I would go to the upper end of the lake above Sand Springs Bend. Fish the pockets along the main lake using small spinnerbaits, grubs, and crawdad colored crankbaits like the Bandit Spring Craw. Lots of East/West coves that allows the Sun to hit the North banks. This water will warm up faster on sunny days. Afernoons will be the best time. Fishing grubs on 3/8th oz jig heads and 10 lb. floro line should get you some smallmouth bites. Trout fishing on the Moutain Fork river below the damn is good this time of year. Twin Pines cabins are old but rennovated for around $70.

I have fished the lake for over 20 years. Have done well in february at times. I think the lake gets a ton better in march. Shaky Heads, drop shots, grubs and small cranks work well. I would fish main lake points now. You can run up the river and find some water color to your liking. Also have caught them on Santone finesse jigs. I own fishing cabin there. Look up www.hickoryhillcabins.com. My cabin is called buck n bass. you can see pictures on this site and let me know if I can be of help.

LargemouthOkie knows what he's talking about on the lake I stayed in his cabin and saw his mountings and plaques. Okie you should leave your number so we could have called for advice. The cabin is very nice it was just a bad time to be there they were resurfacing the highway and had to sit and wait every time we went in or out.
