Bait fish getting harder to find, thinking about getting a cast net and getting my own whenever I go out. Would also solve the legal issue over where the bait comes from (Okla law can not release bait fish into water they weren't caught in).
How do you find the bait fish, how do you know where to cast the net to catch your bait?
Is it better done from shore or from a boat?
Fishing, a man knows a serenity of soul and peace of mind that he finds in doing nothing else, and it makes no difference whether or not he catches anything. The mind of a true fisherman is not on petty subjects.

I don't have a boat so I usually throw my net from around boat ramps or docks and it's hit and miss lately. Up until this year I could get a bucket full in 20 minutes but I can't seem to find em lately. If you have a boat with a fish finder you can spot schools of shad.

You'll see a lot of postings by a guy called Tarpon Fly. He's a local guide. Read his posts and you'll learn a lot. Look for him in the catfish section too.

Anywhere around docks. Sometimes they're at one dock, sometimes at another. If the shad are in, the catfish and hybrids may be there, also. Concentrated turkey birds will often follow schools of shad.
Biden famously said in the New York Observer, “I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that’s a storybook, man.”

Concentrated turkey birds What's a turkey bird? Never heard the term (assume you're not talking T-day type gobblers)

Ha! Never would've figured that out on my own. Imagine you'd have to be pretty damm hungry to put one of them turkeys on the Thanksgiving table.
