Pecos Drainage with all the creeks is great for browns and bows, also cutthroat if u hike up to the headwaters of most creeks

Rio Costillo is great. It is closed till July 1 each year. Great fishing. I love the Cimmaron below Eagle Nest lake. Upper Red is fun for small fish. Red and Rio Grande confluence is good for bigger fish but it takes some work to get there. The trip out can kick your butt. I will be in red river starting July 6 for two weeks. This is my favorite fishing trip of the year. You will fall in love with it.

That guy knows that area
Had a house right by where the turnoff is for elk creek trailhead for 8 years

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

God does not deduct from man's allotted span the hours spent fishing.

Thanks kodys'papa I can assure you there a few tricks left up the sleeves in that area:). Hope if they are known they are not mentioned unless found. I can assure there has been enough given by all to have an epic trip. I can add my first trip down the gorge to fish the lower red I was a rookie didn't have the b@&?s to wet wade yet. I ha the texas rookie neoprene waders on and trekked down the switch backs. By the time I got down I was cooked and beat lol. My buddie and I caught our breath packed strait back out and went to the costilla. The next trip I went down had sandles shorts skipped down the trail with a pack full of water and gatoraid. Spent an entire day down there and loved it. If there is ever a place to wet wade its there there are warm springs below the hatchery and the water is very nice. Even though I am bass fisherman at heart I have an affinity for finding trout water few others have seen. There is some to be had in that area and it is some of the prettiest this country has to offer you should have a great trip.

Robert, I remember going over that bridge way back but I couldn't remember exactly where it was. I do remember being scared as #$@! going across it!

Yea you don't stop to take pics on it lol. Strait across from the gas station in costilla goes right to antonito saves a lot of time. Best dirt road I have ever been on.
