I have a 2012 21HP Elite and it will chine walk if you let it, the key is to stop it before it even starts. There is no such thing as driving through chine walk you merely make minor steering corrections to keep it on pad and running straight. There is absolutely no difference in the corrections needed to maintain your boat on pad or driving your truck down the road while staying between the lines. Once you learn how to properly and safely drive your boat these corrections will be made without even thinking about it, just like driving a vehicle.

Tritons are great boats. Maybe not the fastest boat on the market but you will definitely feel safe in one. Speed is overrated anyways. If you are worried about walking it, trim the motor down and back off a few miles an hour. 65-68 is more than fast enough.

I'd hate to be on the lake with you if the last thing you are worried about is driving a boat when you are behind the wheel. Or even a car as you referenced.

I have a Triton and have had a great experience with it. The boat is fast and is a nice setup. With that being said if I were to buy another boat I would look at the major brands and pick what features are important to me. Speed used to be important to me but not anymore, I am more concerned about features and amenities. Also you want to look at resale value and things like that. Being in Tx Skeeter seems to be the boat lots of folks like so they should be easier to sell.

Back to the original question though is that I have a Triton, enjoy it very much and I think you would be pleased with one.

I thought fishing tournaments were about catching fish, not passing other anglers at WOT. " Well Bob, we really didn't catch um good today. We did pass a bunch of guys this mornin' at launch though!"

I had a mid 2k's triton for 5 years. Yes it chin walked alittle but I never felt like it wasn't safe. Fished good, plenty of storage and the livewells were pretty good. Legends are by far the prettiest boats made, livewells are awesome and they handle running wot better than the triton. I own a fx20 and the Triton is just as fast, I went skeeter because most of our time is spent on the front deck and not behind the wheel and skeeters fish great. Having said that my next boat will be a I-class with a sho.Never been in a ranger so can't comment.

I don't know how many times it can be said, if you get behind the wheel of an 80 mph boat you better know how to handle it, I like fast boats that are great fishing platforms, this is why I run a Triton, if I did not have the need for speed I would run a Ranger, had several of them.

I agree, why battle the boat when there are so many out there that you don't have to.

I can catch them too........

Tritons TR's and HP's chine walk because the DRIVER doesn't know how to drive a performance hull. If it is chine walking then you are not a very good driver. Other boats have wedge that keep them from chine walking with inexperienced driver's but this band aid cost performance...bottom line........

I have an 07 tr-21x2 with a 250xs on it and love it. It's rock solid up to 71mph or so. I've had it to 74.2 on GPS but that requires that the motor be trimmed up a little more and yes, then it does chine walk a bit. It only takes small corrections with the wheel to keep it balanced on pad and haulin arse....no biggie

Because we have the need for speed, and it is not a battle if you know how to handle a high performance boat. woot
