Question, which kind do y'all recomend? The kind that goes between motor and mount or the one that goes from motor to trailer roller.

The one I have now is a little one that goes between motor and where motor mounts! Just doesn't make sense to me, it came on my boat!

Has anyone watched someone try and take off with one of these still on the boat? That's what I would end up doing if I had one

I'll look tonight at what brand. I was just curious because I thought you wanted the load of the motor off the transom.

You might want to consider the Lock-n-Haul. It fits the majority of outboards on the market and will eliminate all movement of your motor. Modern day transoms are made to support the weight of your motor and there is really no way remove that weight. What you want to do is eliminate movement of the motor while being trailered. If the motor is attached to the trailer, road shock will be transfered to it. If the motor is moving, that movement will be introduced into all the components of the motor. The more it shakes, the more the wear and tear on the components. Even using steering clips will not eliminate all movement. They cannot be made so they can be taken on and off but fit tight enough to eliminate movement. Lock-n-Haul fits directly between the motor mount and the steering pivot bolts without using off-set pins. I first heard about Lock-n-Haul on this board and have been using one ever since.
