Well, looks like I will be in Marble Falls in July. I have never fished LBJ before. Does anyone care to help me out with tips, tricks, and suggestions? I am not looking for GPS coordinates or anything and I am not fishing any tourneys out there. I just want to get my wife and I on a few decent fish. Thanks

I hope that you are not going for the 4th. There are way to many boats out for me on that weekend. I think that the most fun on LBJ in the summer is to fish the lights at night. They are all over the lake. You just drive around till you find a couple of them.

Or if you want to go out in the morning, go fish a frog in the grass on the lower end. I can always catch a couple that way.

Unfortunately we will be there for the 4th. I am hoping that if there is a decent early morning bite Ill be on and off the water before the pleasure boaters. We will be there all week, thats the only reason im taking my boat. If it was just for the day or two I would leave it at home. Thanks for the advice so far.

Just like these guys said.. the boat traffic that weekend is the worst. Definitely fish the lights at night and the topwater bite will be good early in the morning. Cottonwood is a good area or find some grass and start fishing. PM me when it gets closer to time and I will try to point you in the right direction.

Good luck with that, the pleasure boaters have the same idea to beat traffic before it gets too crazy, there is cool firework display at Bridge on the LLano River, but the boat traffic afterwards is pretty scary...I would not want to be on the water the night of the forth.

Good luck

Just go way up the river if you have to fish it in the day, way up the river where the rocks are out of the water and it is not that bad with the pleasure crafts

Finese worms on shakey heads will produce numbers. FYI it will not matter how early you get out there that week, jet ski's and ski boats will be everywhere and they have no manners! Be very carefull...you could possibly get away from the traffic up the Colorado River or inside Sandy Creek. It might be worth a try to fish Lake Marble Falls early one morning, but boat traffic will get crazy there too. Give Inks Lake State Park a call when you get here and ask them about the boat traffic, Inks Lake might be a better alternative?
