Anyone fished Gibbons Creek lately? If so how was it & what's the water temp like?
Thanks for the input.

I went to Gibbons Saturday. Water was 63 by the dam and 69 by the discharge. The water is pretty stained. I'd say it's 1-2ft low.

Fish don't seem to be spawning yet but they're getting ready. They might be spawning in the warmer water further up the creek arms near the discharge but we didn't make it up that far. Mostly fished the cuts going up the other creek. Fished from noon to dark and caught 5, lost a few others. The females are fat.

Same as kdr2002 on water temps and lake level. I was there on Saturday afternoon for a short time and caught 4. 3 were on stumps in about 3 feet and the largest (about 3 lbs) was very shallow. Caught all off the main lake. Tried some back up in the creeks and didnt get any bites.

As Brian Regan would say, "on weekends and holidays and all throughout May." They've changed the hours since I was there last.

Open year round Fri, Sat, Sun and also on the Monday summer holidays,

Sunrise to Sunset.

No bucks could be found at all in the creeks yet building any beds.

Gen is on, but looks at a very low capacity and so water at discharge was only a little warmer than inlet.

I saw coots working lake Friday. I don't recall that I have ever seen any on Gibbons in years as there is little good hydrilla or grass any more.

It is quite unusual this month for Gibbons for lake temp patterns, perhaps unseen only in years past when the gen went briefly offline and the entire lake at all depths had about the same temp.
The unseasonable warm Jan. weather has not yet chilled the waters and given bass a need to move...its perfect temp (60's) for bass and baitfish/tilapia all over the lake and so bass are spread out thin and hard to find in numbers. Shad have not had yet had a winter die off/migration and bass surely must be lazy and always fully fed. I have not in past years sonar logged so many large shad balls throughout the lake for a January. The discharge is not helping concentrate fish as it is not heating lake temps much or moving very much water.

If we don't get a severe late cold front and the plant doesn't buy water and flood the beds holding fry again this year, the now healthy bass hopefully will have the 1st successful spawn seen in a while.

I went this past Saturday for a few hours. Found a school and was getting bit literally almost every cast. I counted out 25 that I caught in one spot. Half were unders and the other were all around 3 lbs. Decided to take 5 home for dinner also.
