Hey guys I'm in san antonio I got back from afghanistan in november and haven't been able to catch anything. I've been going to all the places that have produced for me regularly before but I haven't even gotten any bites. I'm using everything from live/fresh dead/frozen shad, liver, punch bait and perch. Did something kill the fish while I was gone or am I just on a really long dry streak?

I don't know that area. Maybe some people from your area will chime in.

If your normal spots aren't producing then think outside the box and try some new ones. Many folks have done well shallow and some are still catching them deep. They should be at many different depths right now.

Right this minute I'm at calaveras. I tried canyon Saturday and braying a few days before that. I don't have a boat so I'm doing all this from the shore. I can cast about 75 yards out but I know that's still only a few feet deep. I rented a boat early in the month and went all over calaveras and between 3 of us in 8 hours we only had 3 fish in the boat.

Canyon is real tough. Cally is your best bet. I have a boat and do not fish the bank much, but from the guys I talk to, you can try going out on the point between the ramps, but to the right side of it and cast towards the no wake marker and to the right of it. Basically into the entrance way to that cove with the boat ramp. Use Big Marvs, you can get at the store, and you should be able to pick up some channel cats. There is a lot of bait in that area, so the cats can be found there too. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

I usually fish that cove but someone usually beats me to the point. Ill give it a try. Not even a nibble yet. Sounds good I'd love to jump in with you sometime. I've seen some of the fish you post on here so maybe you can teach me a thing or two.

I just get lucky once in a while.
